Vauxhall's Vision of a Future Sports Car

With the Geneva Motor Show drawing ever closer, Vauxhall have released more details of their GT Concept which is their vision of the future sports car. This striking two seater is features no buttons, instead using HMI and a touchpad based within the centre console. What is HMI? HMI stands for Human Machine Interface and is a system which allows the driver to use voice commands to perform tasks such as change song, adjust the temperature or change route.

This system is rather clever in the way it saves driver preferences so over time the car will learn what the driver does and doesn't like. If the voice command is not to the driver's taste however, they can use the central touchpad instead. The instrument panel on the GT Concept is made from brushed aluminum and the steering wheel features a retro spoke design, which looks rather handsome with it's red piping around the outside.

The GT Concept will be powered by a turbocharged 1 litre engine which produces 143bhp and will develop 205nm of torque. This means a 0-62mph of around 8 seconds and a top speed of 134mph. So not exactly brisk by any means but it will be rear wheel drive and the engine will be mounted to a six speed auto gearbox.

The car should be pretty comfortable too, having ergonomically designed seats for ultimate comfort and steering wheel/pedal adjustments that can be altered electronically to the last millimetre. The GT Concept doesn't have wing mirrors, instead it uses cameras and the HMI can even issue out warnings to keep the driver and others out of harm's way.
