We are just a week away from the eagerly anticipated Geneva Motor Show so here are a sneak preview on what is to come:
Ifiniti Q60: An all new sports coupe which will feature V6 twin-turbo engine which will have 405 PS on tap. Infinti say that it has been 'designed to perform' and will be debut alongside the QX30 crossover. It looks very nice although it does remind me of a Jag to be honest.
You look familiar... Ferrari will be launching new model GTC4Lusso which to me looks like the Ferrari FF which has been around for a few years now. Not necessarily bad thing however as I rather liked the aesthetics of the FF. The GTC4Lusso will feature four wheel drive combined with rear wheel steering. It can reach speeds of 209 and will reach 0-60 in 3.4 seconds by means of a meaty 12-cylinder engine.
Honda have released a teaser picture of their new Civic hatchback prototype which they are looking to release into the European market in 2017. As well as the Civic, Honda will also be making it's European debut with it's Clarity Fuel Cell and a new concept for the Honda Jazz.
Mazda will unveil their simply stunning concept, the RX-Vision which will feature a rotary engine. The car is a thing of beauty so it's no wonder it won 'Most Beautiful Concept Car of the Year' at the Festive Automobile International in France. Mazda will also debut the Mazda3 which will have the SKYACTIV-D 1.5 diesel engine.
Alpina will be showcasing their 'supersaloon' in the form of the B7 Bi-Turbo. This beast has a 4.4 litre V8 giving it performance figures of a top speed of 193mph and will hit 0-60 in only 4 seconds. That is not too far off from the Ferrari featured earlier! Despite the barn-storming figures the B7 also has an emphasis on luxury with a exquisite leather interior.
Something a little different now in the form of Renault's new estate, the Megane Sport
Tourer. Renault say that the Megane ST will be both elegant and sporty whilst boasting the largest load length in class. It has styling cues with give a nod to it's sporting credentials and it will have 4CONTROL which should provide price, dynamic handling.
SsangYong have not always produced the best looking cars in the market but this is definitely an improvement. What we have here is the Tivoli XLV which is billed as a multi-role compact SUV which will have a higher load capacity compared to the standard Tivoli. It will be offered in a 1.6 petrol and a 1.6 diesel engine.
Volkswagen will be turbocharging their Up! bringing it's horsepower up to a very modest 90bhp. Other upgrades include updated exterior styling, extensive customisation and a BeatsAudio system on top of other features. The new Up! will be available later this year.
Maserati are to launch their first ever SUV at GMS, the Levante. It will feature Q4 intelligent four wheel drive as well as an eight speed auto gearbox that has been adapted specifically for the Levante. Maserati say it will offer unrivalled handling on all surfaces and will offer an excellent off-road performance and ride.
Vauxhall will offer their view of what the future sports car will look like in the form of their GT Concept. I must say this is a cracking looking car and I do hope Vauxhall put into production. It will feature HMI (Human Machine Interface) which allows the driver to use voice commands for functions such as changing route for the sat nav or the radio station. The system is smart too, it will learn the driver's preferences so the atmosphere is just right when they climb in.
So there we have it, a brief(ish) overview on some of the cars that will be on display at the Geneva Motor Show next month.
