So last week we saw James May get caught out in Central London after his Reliant Robin broke down, now the same problem has plagued Matt LeBlanc's Reliant Rialto. 2 incidents from rival programmes involving three wheeled cars? That's a rather odd coincidence... Also it shows that these cars are far from Reliant! This is the latest in a collection of problems that have affected the show since the new format was introduced.
Poor LeBlanc had to take an unscheduled pit stop in the Orbital Retail Park in Cannock, Staffordshire on what was his first day of filming. His Rialto, which was covered in a United States livery was racing Chris Evans' Union flag covered Rialto from London to Blackpool. The challenge was set by BBC Radio 2 presenter David Baddiel and judging by LeBlanc's setback it should mean victory for Team UK!
David Baddiel had this to say when he threw down the gauntlet to Evans and LeBlanc:
"Each of you will defend your respective nation's motoring honour in a series of suitably gruelling and potentially godawful Top Gear challenges. Yep, it's the USA versus the UK."
The new series will be with us in May.
