DS Announce E-Tense

Stunning isn't it? This is the new E-Tense from avant-garde car brand DS which they will unveil at the Geneva Motor Show. DS have combined luxury craftsmanship with cutting edge technology to make an electric supercar everyone is talking about. Powering this moving artwork is a system of lithium-ion batteries which sit underneath the carbon fibre monocoque chassis. The reason for this is to provide a better of centre of gravity meaning the E-Tense should give a more exciting ride. From those batteries come 402 bhp which equates to around 156 mph. Hardly 'electric' (sorry, couldn't resist) but it is still fast for an electric car. It is saved by a 0-62 mph of 4.5 seconds which is more than respectable.

The exterior may be futuristic but the E-Tense does take some inspiration from DS' past. For example, the rear indicators are part of the roof which is reminiscent of the model back in 1955. Also you'll note that there is no rear window, instead the car will rely on technology to show the driver what is behind them. But in all honesty the driver may have little care what is behind them as they will be taking in by the luxurious cabin.

A lot of work and effort was put into the cabin with DS drafting in BRM Chronographers, Focal and Coyote. The interior took 800 hours to design, test, produce and features a wristwatch style design on the seats and the dashboard. Speaking of watches, thanks to BRM Chronographers the E-Tense will give the driver a timepiece which can either be worn or installed in the dashboard.

I imagine the E-Tense will draw quite the crowd when it hits the floor of the Geneva Motor Show which is almost upon us.
