The Up! has done rather well since Volkswagen AG introduced it's compact city car in 2011. However VW are not resting on their laurels and are inserting some impressive upgrades which include automatic air conditioning, customisation options, 300W BeatsAudio system and a turbocharged 1.0 litre engine.
The new engine will produce 90 PS which gives it a similar power output of the original Golf GTi and will be added to the two existing 1.0 litre engines available. The exterior also gets an upgrade with all new bumpers, rear diffuser, door mirrors (with built-in indicators), LED daytime running lights and also new rear lights. The lights are now also available with VW's 'Light and Sight' package and the fog lights now contain cornering lights.
The interior has now been upgraded, boasting automatic air conditioning (Climatronic) with controls on the steering wheel. The Climatronic also has a Pure Air system which means it filters out pollutants, fungal spores and allergens, adding to the occupant's comfort level. On top of this customers will also get a 300W BeatsAudio system as well as smartphone integration so the Up! is very unlikely to leave drivers (or passengers) bored. Customers will have the chance to customise the interior to their liking with 10 dashpad options available.
They say that big things come in small packages and thanks to Volkswagen's upgrades to the Up! that is a point they've proved right. The car will go on show at the Geneva Motor Show and will be available to buy later in the year.
