It seems only a moments ago that the cover came off the Ford Fiesta ST200 but it's Ken Block's Fiesta that has received alot of attention this week. The car in question is the Fiesta ST RX43 rallycross car which produces an unbelievable 650 bhp!!! What is the 0-60 time? 1.8 seconds, which is over a second faster than a Lamborghini Aventador! For a car so small to produce those kind of performance figures is completely mind boggling! It also features a really cool livery that changes colour depending on light and viewing angles. Block showcased the car in Gymkhana 8 which took place in Dubai.
For those of you who don't know, Ken Block is a professional racing/stunt driver who shot to fame with his YouTube videos of him hooning about in Gymkhanas. His videos have received millions of hits over the years thanks to his thrilling and precise driving style. He has been rallying for over 10 years in cars such as the Subaru Impreza WRX STI, Ford Focus RS and the Ford Fiesta RS.
What exactly is a Gymkhana?
The term originates for the equestrian event where horses and riders competed in s[eed pattern racing and timed games. The motor equivilent is quite similar, drivers need to get around a course as quickly as possible whilst navigating obstacles along the way. These obstacles could include tyres, cones or barrels and require a mixture of driving techniques to obtain the fastest time. Ken Block likes to push the envelope however and has been known to use cars and even planes as obstacles when he hoons about!
