Canadian Man Creates Ski Car

I must admit, I've always struggled to find uses for the Smart car, they're slow, offer little luggage space and up until recently you could only carry one passenger. On top of that they are expensive and they're not cool in my opinion. Sure, there easy to park but that novelty is not worth it for me. However, Tod Anderson, a mechanic in Canada has taken his Smart Car into a workshop and adapted it into a ski car.

It has tank tracks fitted to the rear and skis to the front to adapt it for snow driving. Who needs winter tyres when you have this little baby? It's better than a snowmobile to as the driver will be enclosed and can stay out of the conditions should a blizzard come. The diesel powered ski car only has a top speed of 44 mph but on snow would you really want to go faster?

The invention had been kept as a local secret but a picture was added on Reddit and thanks to the power of social media it went viral. Around $7,000 was put into this project and it took just a month to build. Anderson said: "It's just a thought that came to me and it seemed like the right thing to do. It’s a rear-drive, rear-engine car so it's ideal for this sort of thing. The whole point of this exercise was to see if it could be done".
