Volkswagen have made a new Golf GTi which has sold out already and my oh my it appears to be quite the beast! It's called the Golf GTi TCR All 20 have already been snapped by race teams and can be used in up to 16 national and international TCR touring car championships. On the outside we see a bulging body which sits on 18 inch racing rims and a chassis which is which 40cm wider than the standard production Golf. Inside there is a racing sequential gearbox which is mated to a 2.0 litre four-cylinder engine featuring direct fuel injection - the same as the Golf R - producing 325 bhp and 410Nm of torque.
But it's not just budding racing drivers that get to have all the fun as the VW will be launching a special edition called the Clubsport will celebrates 40 years of the Golf GTi. Only a limited number will be made and it will be the most powerful production Golf that the German brand have made. To boast that title it has a 2.0 litre TFSI engine which produces 261 bhp and has direct fuel injection which provides a boost function giving a temporary 286 bhp output.
So I think you'll agree it's not a bad present to the hatchback that kick started the hugely popular hot hatch genre. A genre that is still as popular - if not more - than it was back in the 70s when Volkswagen originally presented the Golf GTi to the world. Prost!
