You read that right, an electric car was fined due to it's high pollution, which makes for quite a big paradox. This story comes from Singapore and the victim of this bizarre circumstance is Joe Nguyen after he purchased a Tesla Model S. After buying the Model S he had it shipped over to his homeland before he was hit with a $15,000 fine as this all electric car was deemed to produce high amounts of pollution.
The irony doesn't stop there as the Singapore Government gives a rebate for low emissions vehicles and guess how much it is? Yes, you're dead right, it's $15,000! As you can imagine Mr Nguyen was not a happy bunny and the matter even reached the CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk. The reason for the fine being issued is although the Tesla Model S runs solely of electric, it needs to be plugged in at the mains to be charged which is where the high CO2 emissions are produced.
It is said that Musk is speaking with the Singapore Prime Minister to get the issue resolved and is currently being investigated. To quote Sean Connery in Goldfinger, ''shocking, positively shocking....'
