Corby saw a rather unconventional and dangerous driverless car on the road as a driver fled, leaving his 4x4 to roll down Rockingham Hill following a police chase. The silver car took the police on a chase around the local industrial areas around 3pm after failing to stop. The unnamed driver ditched the motor to escape on foot leaving the car roll unaided down the 16 per cent gradient of Rockingham Hill.
Thankfully the car did not damage anything or anyone before coming to a stop on the grass bank after hitting a metal sign. Amazingly the car avoided all the oncoming before coming to it's resting place. A policeman on the scene said: “It was very, very lucky that nobody was seriously injured.
“The motorist made off as soon as he got out of the car and we’ve unfortunately been unable to locate him.
A police helicopter was also brought in but to no avail as the mystery driver is still at large. It is still unkown why the driver fled from police or who the man is and the police are keen to find out more.
