Two pedestrians in Blackburn, Lancashire had a lucky escape when a parked car was sent in their direction following an oncoming car colliding with it. CCTV footage shows a Volkswagen Golf coming down the road somehow managing to clip the parked Vauxhall causing the Golf to flip onto it's roof. The driver was lucky enough to escape serious injuries as he crawled from the upside-down VW bloody nosed but he was taken to the local hospital as a precaution.
The crash caused the parked Vauxhall to move towards the two male pedestrians but thankfully the car slowed down to avoid injuring the two men. The emergency services were called to the scene on Whalley Range, Blackburn around 11am yesterday before the road was closed for a short period.
Jeff Crook, 66, co-owner of Your Handy Hire Shop, said: "We were in here and we heard the bang. I said it's a crash. My son went to the door and I went to the CCTV camera. I don't think the driver was going too fast. He just failed to see the vehicle and just clipped it."
Faisal Yasin, an employee at nearby Nansha Sweet Centre, said: "I heard a bang and I saw a car upside down. We were all shocked but we had to rush back to serve customers." Nice to see where his priorities lie...
Residents are calling for changes to be made to the road as they say that the narrowed sectios of the road have failed to provide sufficient traffic calming measures. How the driver hit the car in the first place is beyond me!
