McLaren has expanded it's Sports Series by adding the track dedicated 570S GT4 and 570S Sprint to their roster. Both models have been developed by McLaren's motorsport division, McLaren GT and GT racing experts CRS GT Limited. The GT4 will be used in a season long development programme in the British GT championship with customer team Black Bull Ecurie Ecosse. The car will compete in the full nine round calendar and will begin by taking on Spa-Francorchamps, whereas the Sprint will be used for private trackdays and is unrestricted by racetrack regulations.
More details on the Sprint will come in th next few weeks but that can be upgraded to GT4 specifications if desired. Going back to the GT4, it will share the carbon fibre MonoCell II chassis that is used on other models within the Sports Series. This means that this the first time the technology will be available in the GT4 series. Powering the GT4 will be a 3.8 litre twin turbo V8 taken from road models of the Sports Series and is mated to a 7 speed DSG gearbox.
Commenting on the latest additions to the Sports Series, Mike Flewitt, Chief Executive Officer, McLaren Automotive said: "As with road-going models wearing a McLaren badge, the 570S GT4 and 570S Sprint models are about being an engaging and exciting drive. The launch of the Sports Series has broadened McLaren to a new audience, introducing technologies to the sports car market and to a new group of customers. The 570S GT4 is doing the same in the motorsport world, and will bring the opportunity to own and race a McLaren – previously limited to a very small number of people – to a much wider group"
