Last Sunday I visited the monthly classic car and motorcycle meet at Riverview Cafe, Forest Row and I must say I was very impressed with the cars on show. I turned up around 10:35 and there were five cars varying from a 1930s Morris Minor to a 1960s Mustang. As much as they looked splendid I did have have a slight fear not many other cars were coming. Oh how I was wrong, fast forward about an hour or so and the place was awash with cars (and motorcycles) of yesteryear. There was something for everyone, Ferraris, fast Fords, British sports cars and few rare cars like the Volvo 66GL.
The event came about after previous owner of the cafe, Peter Sonneveld apparently used the even as an excuse to take his own vintage car to work on a Sunday. The first few meetings were tiny and it didn't look like it was going to take off. The even has been running since May 2009 and it certainly did take off the even I went to hosted around 130 cars! Rosanna Viscogliosi took over the cafe in November 2015 with the clear intention that the event would be a regular fixture.
The event is laid back, friendly and best of it's free! Any classic cars are welcome and the even runs all year around. The event takes place every 2nd Sunday of the month and people start to turn up around 10:30. I have posted a few pictures of what to expect but for more have look on my Instagram (carobsessionblog).
