£225 To Recover Stolen Car

A mechanic from Bridlington, East Yorkshire had a double whammy when he learnt that not only had his car been stolen, but he would have to pay £225 to get it back again. This the bizarre and unfortunate story of David Parker, 48, who discovered his Daihatsu 4x4 had been stolen and promptly reported this to the Police. Much to his dismay he was told that the car had already been found dumped and therefore would require a £225 to recover it from the compound.

Mr Parker was understandably shocked and when asked about the situation said: "I was disgusted - I have been robbed. It was locked inside a shed and they damaged the doors and windows of cars as they tried to get the batteries out of them. The car was found near Beeford Post Office after someone had reported it."

He has decided not to pay the fee as the car was intended as spare parts anyway, although it does not make the situation any better. This is not the first time Mr Parker has been targeted as his business, Lissett Autos has had a number of thefts over the past year. He said: "The first time a car was stolen was on April 11 last year. They took a customer's Mini Cooper, which was found burnt-out near Brandesburton."

As a result Mr Parker now says he will have to start work in the early hours of the morning just so he is able to protect his business from thieves. Poor man... If you happen to know anything about the crime than you can call Humberside Police on 101 quoting crime number CS/217404.
