TVR Announces New Factory

The new model looks exciting, although the back reminds me of a Jag F-Type

After speculation around TVR joining Aston Martin in Wales, the British company have now confirmed those rumours, declaring that their new factory will be at Ebbw Vale Enterprise Zone, South Wales. This new venture will create around 150 new jobs and the brand look to get their next model on sale in 2017, over a decade since their last model, the Sagaris.

The new model will be business as usual for the firm with a V8 powered Cosworth engine at the front, power fed to the rear, 2 seats in the middle and a thunderous exhaust note. TVR have already secured in excess of 350 deposits for their new model so their new plant is sure to see lots of business once up and running. The new model will also host F1 inspired ground-effect technology, which will give the car better grip in the corners.

It will also be developed with the help of Gordan Murray who you may remember as the man who worked on the legendary McLaren F1, so it's clear that TVR mean business. This will also mean that this will be the first production car to use the iStream production system, which will keept the car lightweight and decrease CO2 emissions by 40% over the car's lifecycle.

The new owner of TVR, Les Edgar is understandably optimistic, “This is a fantastic opportunity both for TVR and the Welsh Government. South Wales is becoming a major hub for automotive and motorsport technology and development and the area is a serious opportunity for business development and job creation.

"We have a sports car project that has garnered global approval and excitement, and we are delighted that the Welsh government and Fiduciam wish to become a part of an exciting new era for TVR.”

The Rt. Hon Carwyn Jones, First Minister of Wales, added: "This is yet another fantastic high profile investment for Wales and a great boost for our automotive sector. Today’s news follows hot on the heels of the Aston Martin announcement and sends out a strong, clear message that Wales is the location of choice for advanced manufacturing."
