Jaguar Classic have announced they will rebuild the the iconic XKSS, dubbed as the 'world's first supercar', which will replace the ones lost in the Browns lane fire. Jaguar originally produced the XKSS as a road version of the Le Mans winning D-Type.
History Re-made
The nine all new XKSS's will be built to the exact specifications of the original models made in 1957, which were bound for the USA before they were ravaged by fire. The new models are to replace them but will only be available to a select group of established collectors and customers. Each one will be handmade at Jaguar's 'Experimental Shop' in Warwick.
Tim Hannig, Director Jaguar Land Rover Classic, said: “The XKSS occupies a unique place in Jaguar’s history and is a car coveted by collectors the world over for its exclusivity and unmistakable design.
“Jaguar Classic’s highly skilled team of engineers and technicians will draw on decades of knowledge to ensure each of the nine cars is completely authentic and crafted to the highest quality.
“Our continuation XKSS reaffirms our commitment to nurture the passion and enthusiasm for Jaguar’s illustrious past by offering exceptional cars, services, parts and experiences.”
The price is said to be in excess of £1 milllion and deliveries are expected to be early 2017.
