Reports have come out to say that Top Gear host Chris Evans only spends four hours on Top Gear per day as he feels 'useless' after 2pm. Amongst filming Top Gear, Evans is still hosting his breakfast radio show, which means he needs to get up at 4:45am so I suppose it's little wonder he is feeling the strain. The 49-year-old then goes to the studio from his breakfast show and starts filming for Top Gear.
Let's face it, it can't be easy for Evans who is spinning many plates at the moment. Not only does he have his radio show and Top Gear to manage, but he also has the constant pressure of incidents affecting the new format of Top Gear - did someone say Cenotaph? Producer Katie Taylor has been reportedly dropped because of the aforementioned stunt and has been replaced by Claire Pizey.
A source told The Mirror: "BBC top brass want no more gaffes so have put Pizey on the case with the remit to make the show safe. There was serious doubt it would even make it to air after the Cenotaph outrage." BBC denied these claims however, stating that Pizey was added to the team to work with Taylor, rather than replace her.
Reports have also come out that Evans and Matt LeBlanc have had a row and had to take separate cars from Heathrow airport after coming back from filming in Italy. This adds further strain to the series which must surely be near it's breaking point.
The new series of Top Gear will return to the BBC in May.
