'Wood' You Believe It?

A Romanian man by the name of Peter Szabo has produced a wooden car, spending £13,915 and around 4,500 hours of his time in the process.

The car is called Julia and can reach top speeds of 55 mph. Just because the car is made from old-fashioned materials, don't be fooled to thinking that the car is stuck in the 1800s, as it boasts tablet-controlled headlights and music is available as well. Julia also features custom seats from a Mercedes-Benz and electronically controlled hood which covers the engine.

The car was three tears in the making and now that it is finished Szabo uses it to drive around his local town, receiving many waves on the way from the locals en-route. As mentioned before the car is able to hit 55 mph but Szabo is confident that the car can reach higher speeds once the car is taking on the free way.

Speaking on the project, Szabo said: "After building a wooden carriage I said I wanted a bigger challenge.

"It's very rare to find a hard wood concept car of very good quality. It's almost impossible to find it anywhere in the world. It was a hard time for me but also a happy time. It was a great happiness for me to build it."

Now the car is complete Szabo now has plans to make another wooden car with a futuristic design and powered by electricity.
