David Argust, a chauffeur from Bristol had a nasty shock when he found that the footage filmed on his dashcam showed that it had been taken out for a fast ride whilst it was being serviced. Mr Argust had taken his new E300 AMG to the Sytner Mercedes-Benz Garage for a service, only for the car to driven at speed around the local area.
The unnamed mechanic and his apprentice took the E300 AMG out without Mr Argurst's permission and managed to break the speed limit 9 times in 10 minutes. One of this occasions was a speed of almost 60 mph in a 40 mph zone as well as 35 mph reached in a 5 mph supermarket car park, where the mechanic withdrew money.
It wasn't just speeding that was the issue either, as there is a month around 5 minutes 58 seconds in where the AMG gets so close to the car in front that the anti-collision system thinks an impact is imminent and starts beeping. Mr Argust also reports that whilst on the joyride, the mechanic went over the white line on a red light and came close to hitting two cars.
Since the incident the mechanic has been sacked by the company and they offered to Mr Argust a free service before then offering him £1,500 to keep the matter quiet, but Mr Argust refused this offer. Speaking on the matter, he said: "This car was bought new from Mercedes Sytner Group.
"This was an experienced Bristol Mercedes technician with his apprentice.
"Bristol Mercedes first response was to offer a free service. Sytner group's last response was a £1,500 cash providing the customer signed a confidentiality agreement.
"This was refused."
