American carmaker have recalled 2,700 Model X cars due to fears that the third row of seats will collapse in in a crash.
The U.S. firm have confirmed that models sold to the UK are not affected so if you are among the Model X owners reading this you can take a sigh of relief. The recall has been put in place after Tesla found the fault during a pre-delivery inspection, where a defective hinge was found on the rear row of seats.
The recall is for Model Xs are for models built before March the 26th, with a total of 2,700 models being recalled. The Model X has been on sale since September 2015 and the recall comes at a bad time as the electric carmaker is gearing up for the launch of its forthcoming Model 3.
The Model X is the fastest, safest and most capable SUV in history according to Tesla which is a very bold claim. The Model X is powered by 90 kWh battery which provides a range of 257 miles of range. The battery is capable of powering the Model X to 60 mph in just 3.2 seconds, that is supercar territory. Ok, maybe Tesla have a point. The car also has look-at-me doors which look to be inspired by the infamous DeLorean.
The company has sent communications to all affected customers and have described the recall as 'pre-cautionary measure'.
