'Classic' Car To Debut At Top Marques

This car make look like an Italian sports coupe from the 1960s, but in fact this is a new car. It has been built by small carmaker Effeffe, with co-founders and brothers Leonardo and Vittorio Frigerio. The Frigerios are quick to say that the car is a completely original model and is not a replica based on pre-existing car.

The car is called the Berlinetta and borrows a 2.0 litre engine from an Alfa Romeo which is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. No performance figures have been announced yet but more details may come when the car debuts at Top Marques which opens tomorrow. The chassis is a hand-built tubular spaceframe which is lightweight, combined with the aluminum bodywork the car weighs below 800kg.

Leonardo Frigerio said: "The Berlinetta is the daughter of a great passion but also the perfect example of how to combine the spirit of the Italian Granturismo of the 60s and the special attention of the master craftsmen who built them with the most modern design and industrial techniques."
