A one-off Bentley Continental GT V8 S Convertible which has been designed by Sir Peter Blake, the famous artist who is known for his influence in the pop art movement. His best known work is the art on The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album. The car has been donated Care2Save Charitable Trust, which provides palliative and hospice care around the world.
As you can imagine the car is rather 'bold' and will not be to everyone's tastes. No doubt that the car is unique though and is bound to fetch a good price when it's auctioned by Bonhams on the 24th of June at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed. The car features many colours and will not be lost in a car park any time soon.
The outside features a collage design which uses varying colours but the stand-out feature is the large heart motif on the bonnet, both the collage and the heart are trademarks of Sir Peter's work. It's not just the outside that gets a bold touch, each seat is trimmed in its own colour, Cumbrian Green, Imperial Blue, Newmarket Tan and Hotspur. The steering wheel also trimmed in leather and features the same colours as the seats and is complimented by pink gearstick.
Sir Peter Blake's signature is embroidered on the seats and also features on the fascia panel. A treadplate provides the icing on the cake that reads: 'Unique design by Sir Peter Blake, 1/1, By Bentley Mulliner' which I think looks fantastic.
Speaking on the collaboration, Sir Peter said: “I am proud to have been involved with transforming this beautiful car, and have enormous admiration for the people at Bentley who brought my design into being, to produce this one-off lovely car.”
Andrea Ladeira, CEO of Care2Save, added: “Bentley has supported its local hospice every year since it opened 28 years ago. In turn, the hospice has given love, support and comfort to hundreds of people and their loved ones who are connected to Bentley. It is this excellent care which needs much-needed funds on a wider scale, seeing hospice and palliative care across the UK and globally benefit. The end of someone’s life should bring dignity, love and comfort both to the person who is dying and all those who care about them. We hope that this amazing car will deliver a lasting legacy of care. Without the dedication of Bentley colleagues, none of this would be possible.”
