The 2013 Vauxhall Astra used for the last series of Top Gear is once again up for sale, after the initial sale last year fell through. So for those of you who were looking for a second chance to nab the car you are in luck.
The car is listed on eBay, with the auction starting yesterday and all the money raised from the sale will go to BEN, an automotive charity that helps and supports those who work in the industry. The car has been driving by such stars as Tom Hiddleston, Jack Whitehall and Steven Tyler.
The Astra has 2,908 miles on the clock which sounds very low but remember it has spent its whole life being driven in anger around a racetrack. It does have some creature comforts though, with sat nav, Bluetooth, USB connection and digital radio in the cabin. Also in the cabin are front Corbeau racing seats, needed to keep the stars firmly in place when they hoon about the track. It also has a roll-cage, as well as a 5 point safety harness.
However, it is worth noting that the car is not fit for the road in its current state as it has no airbags. Therefore it is not roadworthy and would require the roll cage and seating to be removed in order to put them back in. This will incur a considerable cost so bear that in mind if you actually plan to drive the car on the road.
David Main, Chief Executive at BEN said: “It is a shame the original sale fell through, but this of course does mean another chance for a Top Gear fan to get their hands on a piece of the show’s history, after all this was the last car to be used in the show’s previous format.”
He added: “Who knows, perhaps Chris Evans or Matt Le Blanc may fancy bidding on it themselves?!”
The car is already taking bids, with a reserve of £10,000 placed.
