The new Volkswagen Tiguan has only been available to buy for a week or two but it has already won two awards. The first of which is the 'Design Trophy 2016' and the second is 'All-Wheel Drive Car of the Year', as voted for by readers Auto Bil Allrad, Europe's largest magazine for off-road vehicles.
The Design Trophy 2016 was awarded by German magazine Auto Zeitung for the best design in the SUV category. The Tiguan held its own and beat the other 14 cars in this segment to take the trophy home.
The second award is Auto Bild Allrad's 'All-Wheel Drive of the Year 2016', an award that the Tiguan has won for an impressive five times since it's introduction to the market in 2007. Since that time Volkswagen have been able to sell over 2.8 million units across 170 markets worldwide. This has turned the car into VW's biggest sellers.
The new car has more space then the outgoing model as well as having a sharper design. A broad choice of engines are on offer too, so there should be a model to suit every need. The new Tiguan is also very safe, boasting features such as Front Assist with City Emergency Braking and Pedestrian monitoring, lane assist, automatic post-collision braking system, plus seven airbags. It's also the first car to be built on VW's new MQB platform.
The new Tiguan is available to buy now with prices starting at £22,500.
