Yesterday Peugeot revealed plans of its next generation of i-Cockpit, its current system is used by more than 2.2 million drivers. The current i-Cockpit is used on the 208, 2008 SUV and the French firm's best selling model, the 308.
The new design will retain what has already been established, such as the higher instrument dials and the smaller wheel, but they will look to refine the system to ensure maximum driving pleasure is achieved.
Using feedback from Peugeot drivers the firm will start with the steering wheel, making sure that a greater field of vision is available. The wheel will also be more compact - not that the current wheel is unwieldy - providing great legroom for the driver.
There will also be a new 12.3 inch display on the dashboard which will feature bespoke graphics for both driver and passengers, with a 8 inch touchscreen device on the centre console which provides the infotainment system. Peugeot say that the next generation i-Cockpit will be designed to be elegant yet practical. The infotainment system can also be operated using voice commands.
Two atmospheric settings will be on offer, 'Boost' provides a more dynamic drive, whereas 'Relax' gives a more comfortable and serene experience. Both settings can be fully customised though to make sure the driver gets the car just right.
The new system will also provide 3D navigation which can be shown on both screens and will be backed up by real-time traffic updates provided by Tom Tom. Like the current design there will be less buttons to create a less cluttered look and will be made using premium materials.
So if you are a fan of Peugeot's current i-Cockpit it looks like things are only going to get better.
