Earlier this week Land Rover announced it will be releasing a special edition of its fastest selling car, the Range Rover Evoque. Since its launch in 2011 the Evoque has shifted 520,000 units, winning 182 awards along the way. The new model will start from £47,200 and will be available to order in just a three month period, with deliveries coming in September.
Black, black and more black. Oh and some red.
A new 'Ember' special edition will feature a black and red colour combination, which certainly gets the seal of approval from me. The front feature a Firenze Red detailing on the front grille and the same colour covers the roof of the Evoque. The rest of the body is coated in Santorini Black and looks pretty stylish.
The theme of black continues as the Ember has generously sized 20 inch Satin black alloys, as well as a Narvick Black grille and black exhaust finishers. Inside you get a similar theme, Ebony Black leather seats are complimented by Pimento Red stitching.
Phil Simmons, Land Rover’s Studio Director for Exterior Design Realisation said: “We wanted to give the Range Rover Evoque Ember Special Edition a sporty feel; contrasting the intensity of the Firenze Red with Santorini Black really shows off the Evoque’s stand-out proportions.”
Not just style, there is substance as well
It's not just looks where the Evoque holds its aces, the Ember features 'Low Traction Launch' which gives the car a better launch on surfaces that offer lower traction. Put simply, it will snub out wheelspin when you try to pull off on a surface such as mud or dirt.
There is also a new InControl Touch Pro infotainment system which offers the driver faster responses and a more intuitive experience. The system can be used in tandem with the Land Rover smartphone app and can provide door-to-door navigation. The system can give information on public transport and you can share you ETA with friends and family so they know when to expect you. The touchscreen is bigger as well, going from 8 inches to 10.2 inches.
It is not confirmed how many models will be produced but I imagine this special edition will be rather limited.
