BBC have announced it will provide an extra content platform to the new series of Top Gear which will be shown online. The show will be called 'Extra Gear' - I suppose it's hard better 'Top' Gear - and will be host Rory Reid. It will also start in May and will be available to view on BBC Three and BBC Worldwide.
Speaking ahead of the forthcoming show, Reid said: "I'm looking forward to showing them how the show is made and what goes on behind the scenes, giving viewers a different perspective on some of the coolest cars on the planet."
The show will show fans what goes on behind the scenes and how the show comes together. I'm sure they will be hoping that Extra Gear production will go more smoothly than its big brother Top Gear, which has hit several problems on the way.
Since the new form of Top Gear has been announced it has been in the papers frequently, mostly for the wrong reasons. The latest reports suggested that Evans had made a producer cry but the BBC were quick to dismiss them. There were also speculation that Evans and co-host Matt LeBlanc were not seeing eye to eye and that a rift had formed between them.
The new series was due to start in early May but has now been pushed back to avoid it compete with Britian's Got Talent. Going back to Extra Gear, it will be interesting to see how popular it becomes and whether it can add any real value to the main event.
