Nissan Leaf Completes 516 Mile Journey

I've seen worst views...

The headline may not seem that impressive but bear in mind the the Nissan Leaf is an electric vehicle. Quite a feat for something is battery powered and therefore needs to be charged on a frequent basis. One of the main things that put people off is the potential limitations of long journeys.

This is something that electric vehicle enthusiast - yes there is such a thing! - and Plug In Adventurer Chris Ramsey is looking to change. He believes that there is a misconception surrounding the long haul capabilities of an electric vehicle. Just recently has embarked on a 516 mile round trip on the North Coast 500 in a Nissan Leaf.

Thumbs up: Chris looks to be enjoying his trip around the Highlands

This route is in the Highlands, Scotland, where some parts are very remote. So not the ideal place when you need somewhere to charge a car battery. The route starts and finishes at Inverness Castle and is known as ‘Scotland’s answer to Route 66’. This is not the first time he has taken an electric car on an epic drive, he drove the Leaf from John O' Groats to Land's End and then all the way back again - a route of 1,652 miles.

Chris Ramsey said; “It’s no secret that I’m an EV advocate – I genuinely enjoy owning and running a Nissan LEAF, knowing that I’m doing my bit for the environment whilst benefiting from the low-running costs. There’s still scepticism about the capabilities of EVs on long journeys though, and that’s why I delight in pushing all-electric travel to the limits and taking on the really big drives. Doing that proves these cars can easily provide the day-to-day range of almost any driver.”
