'Drive' Stalls In Viewing Figures

I watched Drive after my dad recommended it me and although it wasn't awful, I wouldn't say it was particularly good either in all honesty. Personally, I think one of its biggest problems is the length of the show. Over an hour it just fails to excite and feels drawn out. 30 minutes would be a better fit in my opinion.

ITV have announced that Drive will not be coming back for a second series after poor viewing figures. The show was hoping to draw in numbers similar to the 5.6 million drawn in by BBC's Top Gear. But the ITV show has failed to hit erm, top gear and has pulled in 1.5 million viewers.

This has to be partly because it's not an overly interesting show but what has been driving people to turn over is host Vernon Kay who has been at the centre of another sexting scandal. Kay had once again been sending saucy messages to Rhian Sugden, Page 3 model which has put people off from watching the show.

One person on Twitter commented: "Was gonna watch Drive but not bothering now love rat Vernon/vermin is hosting." As much as I don't agree with Kay's actions, I do feel it's unfair that he will likely be the scapegoat of the failing series. Even without the sexting scandal I think this show would have flopped as it just isn't entertaining enough to hold interest over an hour.

A few weeks ago it was reported that Kay would be getting less time on camera in a bid to draw more viewers in but it looks like this has not worked and now a second series looks very unlikely.

What are your views? Did you like the show? Would you like to see it come back for another series or would you like to see the back of it for good?
