Driverless cars are getting a lot of attention and car manufacturers are working on projects to bring us the cars of tomorrow. A few weeks I brought news about a survey conducted by WhatCar? that revealed that a quarter of us would be happy to sleep behind the wheel.
Now a Canadian expert thinks that the driverless technology will lead occupants to do more than just sleep. Barrie Kirk from the Canadian Automated Vehicles Centre of Excellence - rolls off the tongue - claims that the new technology will cause drivers to become promiscuous in a bid to make long journeys less tedious.
Kirk also says that this could have massive implications as this kind of 'activity' prevents occupants from controlling the car if needed, causing more dangerous situations. He commented: "I am predicting that, once computers are doing the driving, there will be a lot more sex in cars.
"That’s one of several things people will do which will inhibit their ability to respond quickly when the computer says to the human, 'Take over.'"
Going back to the WhatCar? survey, 2 of the 900 people did actually say that would be happy to have sex in a driverless cars so it looks like Kirk has a valid point. But I really can't imagine this being a common occurrence like Kirk suggests.
If you were in a driverless car what kind of activities would you be prepared to do? It would be good to get an idea of what you would feel comfortable doing and how much you trust driverless cars. Keep it clean though...
