A dozy driver found himself in quite a bit of bother after his campervan got stuck in scaffolding in St Ives. This caused great embarrassment - but plenty of amusement to others I'm sure - and caused the narrow road to be closed for two hours.
The police attended the doomed motorhome and I imagine their first reaction was to have a chuckle at the driver's experience. They then proceeded to remove the scaffolding and an officer to try to reverse the vehicle out.
The campervan had a rather apt and ironic slogan 'Just Go' but it wasn't going anywhere fast. Local author Liz Kessler saw the even unfold and commented: You do see this happen a lot in the season. One of the biggest causes is Sat Nav in St Ives.
Sat Nav will send you into town and once you are in you are locked into the one way system and you do see people get into trouble.
"There are narrow roads and tight corners and when you add in a load of scaffolding, it's not easy."
There was no serious damage done to the vehicle but I'm sure the same cannot be said for the driver's pride...
