Citroen have announced details of the new C4 Picasso and Grand C4 Picasso that will go on sale on the 1st of September with orders being taken from June.
What's new?
Well to answer that question simply, a fair bit. Changes have been made to all areas of the car and the French brand's focus has been placed on style and comfort, which is no surprise as that is something the brand has managed to do so well over the years.
On the style front the C4 Picasso features new 17 inch Mamba alloy wheels and a two-tone roof, however its bigger brother, the Grand C4 Picasso receives silver roof bars but does not get the two-tone roof, or the alloys. New colours will be available, these include Lazuli Blue, Soft Sand and Cumulus Grey.
There are also three new interior design choices, Wild Blue ambience gives an active and sporty vibe, Dune Beige ambience gives a comfortable and relaxed setting whilst Hype Grey ambience provides a business-class feel. Both cars have re-styled front ends and for the first time are shared across both cars. Keeping with the exterior, the are 3D-effect taillights at the back which are joined by new rear chevrons which are finished in gloss black with a chrome surround.
Packed with technology
The C4 Picasso features a 3D Citroen Connect Nav system which is shown on an updated 7 inch screen but can also be viewed on the 12 inch HD screen on the upper part of the dashboard. There is a hands-free tailgate which will make loading the car easier, all you have to do is wave your foot at the rear of the car and hey presto, the boot is open. Not exactly new technology but one that is handy all the same.
There are plenty of driver aids for safety and convenience, the C4 Picasso gets coffee break alert which makes an audible bong and brings a message on the dash suggesting the driver stop and take a break. On top of this there is a Speed Sign Recognition, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop Function, Active Lane Departure Warning, Active Safety Brake, Driver Attention Alert and Active Blind Spot Monitoring, just to name a few.
Comfort high on the agenda
As well as offering plenty of style, technology and practicality, the new C4 Picasso will also be a comfortable place to be as Citroen have placed comfort high on its list of priorities. In order to achieve this the new models feature customisable ambient lighting, premium cloth and leather trims, a light, airy cabin and the French brand's Advanced Comfort Programme.
The programme filters out external noise and vibrations, giving the occupants the sensation of being in a cocoon and a special effort has been made to ensure there is enough storage that is easily accessible. The programme also uses a plethora of driving aids to make the task of driving easier and will only display truly useful information to the driver.
More engine choice
Two new petrol engines are on offer in the updated model, the 1.2 litre PureTech 110 S&S which is mated to a six-speed manual which is already in use in the Cactus and will available in the 5 door only. The other new engine is the 1.2 PureTech 130 S&S which comes with a six-speed automatic gearbox which is available in both models. These will be added to the pre-existing BlueHDi diesels and the other Puretech 130 S&S.
Both cars will be on sale from September but prices are yet to be confirmed.
