Audi Announce Limited Edition R8 V10

The Audi R8 is the fastest production car the German brand has ever made but not content with this, it has announced a new limited edition that will be even faster.

Its name isn't the most exotic though, it's called the Audi R8 V10 Plus Selection 24H. The name may not be the most be the sexiest but it will make up for it with not only the performance it can offer, but also by the exclusivity.

What makes it limited edition?

The car has been produced to commemorate the Audi R8 LMS GT3's win at last year's Nurburgring 24 Hours debut. Only 24 of the Plus Selection 24H models will be made worldwide and it will go on public display for the first time at this year's competition.

The new car will be recognisable by its tricolour design which resembles the one used on the LMS and is made up using Suzuka grey, Mythos black and Misano red. Other design features that set it aside from your everyday R8 include a 'R8 24H' logo on the sideblades and can also be seen inside the cockpit. The serial number of each model can also be found in the cockpit where it sits in the illuminated door sill trims.

Racing pedigree

The R8 V10 Plus Selection 24H offers the same 602 bhp output as the R8 V10 Plus on which it is based and is able to get to 62 mph in only 3.2 seconds and will get to a top speed of 205 mph. The car also shares 50% of its components as the LMS GT3 and their V10 engines are almost identical. Audi has drawn inspiration from its motorsport experience and the R8 V10 benefits from it in the way of suspension and aerodynamic configurations to help handle high downforces.

Prices are yet to be confirmed but I imagine they will be a pretty penny for this GT3 inspired road-going R8.
