Zafira B Gets Recalled Again

Source: Facebook

Vauxhall have recalled its Zafira B model following another scare that they may catch on fire. This is not the first time such a recall has been made, the company announced a recall in December last year. The company wrote to 234,938 Zafira B owners at that time, informing them of the risk of their car catching on fire and advised them to get the car repaired.

Vauxhall stated that the issue was down to improper repairs made to car's blower resistor motor and its thermal fuse which created a fire hazard, increasing the chance of the vehicle catching fire. The work carried out to cure this issue was free of charge but a second recall has been made so the firm can "improve the overall robustness of the system".

Vauxhall are urging owners who had their Zafira repaired in the original recall to bring the car in again as a preventative measure and all owners will be contacted by letter as of August. Once again the cost for the work will be free of charge and will include a new wax fuse resistor, a new blower motor and a new moulding at the base of the windscreen to address water ingress.

However, it is worth pointing out that owners of a Zafira B that have electronic climate control (ECC) are NOT affected by this recall so if that happens to be you, take a sigh of relief. If you are not sure if you car has this, look out for the button highlighted in the picture below.
