Peugeot have today announced its new 3008 SUV which will be more advanced and will offer more room to the outgoing model.
i-Cockpit with Amplify
The 3008 will be the first model from the French firm to feature the latest version of Peugeot's i-Cockpit system with Amplify. i-Cockpit gives the driver a more user-friendly experience by providing higher dials to ensure more time is spent watching the road and also provides a clutter-free environment.
What the Amplify bit of that does is to provide a sensual experience for the driver and their occupants by 'arousing' - Peugeot's words not mine - senses such as sight, smell, touch and hearing. Taste has been left out but I suppose that would be a tricky one to accommodate for.
So how does Amplify achieve this?
Sight – by varying the intensity of ambient lighting and the colour screens
Hearing – via the musical ambiance settings
Touch – via the multi-point massage embedded in the seats (with up to five programmes)
Smell – via the aroma from the fragrance diffuser
FOCAL - A world first in a car
As we're on the topic of senses it's probably worth mentioning the sound system that comes with the new 3008. It is a world first on a car that comes from French acoustic specialists FOCAL and features 10 speakers which will give a balanced and clear sound. A 200mm Power Flower sub woofer is also used and the system 515 watts of sound.
Still compact but with more space
The 3008 SUV will keep its compact dimensions but will offer more space than the outgoing model. This applies for both luggage and passenger room with 90 more litres being offered throughout - making it a total of 1580 - whilst rear occupants can make use of 24mm extra legroom, 36mm extra headroom and 4mm extra elbow room.
The front passenger will also get a little extra room, with 17mm of extra elbow room on offer despite the car remaining the same width. The new 3008 is slightly longer than its predecessor with an extra 80mm in length but also a little shorter with a height saving of 19mm. Plus there has been a weight saving of 100kg on average which will help with performance and efficiency. I also think it's safe to say that it's also better looking than the outgoing model too.
What engines can I choose from?
The new 3008 will offer four petrol engines and and five diesel engines which include:
