Renault Teases New Clio RS

Now, if I had to pick my favourite genre of car it's safe to say the hot hatchback would win hands down. I just love the mix of practicality, speed and value for money on offer. So you can imagine my excitement when I heard that Renault will be unveiling what it calls a 'special version' of the Clio RS.

The car is to mark the 40th anniversary of RenaultSport and also to celebrate Renault's return to Formula 1. It will be unveiled at the Monaco Grand Prix this weekend and more details should come then as at the moment they are few and far between.

What's New?

Well that is something that has not been revealed yet sadly. It is thought that this model will be more powerful than the standard car which produces 217bhp and willfeature an uprated gearbox and suspension. You will still be stuck with five doors however, judging by the picture that has been released.

The car also looks wider and meaner from the picture with a clear intent it means business. But the burning question has to be has it got a manual gearbox? The decision to opt for an flappy-paddle gearbox turned a few people off so I feel this is a prime chance for the French brand to make amends and fit a 'proper' gearbox.

Patrice Ratti, Managing Director of Renault Sport Cars, said: "We successfully completed the project of a slightly crazy car. It was a joint effort by the Renault Sport Cars and Renault Sport Racing teams. This Clio R.S. refines the expertise of Renault Sport engineers whilst exploring new avenues for the future."
