South London will play host to a wide variety of classic - and a few modern - race cars as Motorsport at the Palace returns to Crystal Palace Park.
The main event is the time trials that take place on the old Crystal Palace track which is steeped in history. Around 200 cars take to the legendary tarmac as they battle it out to get the fastest time possible. The oldest cars date back to pre-war times with the likes of a 1930 Austin Ulster, a 1933 Wolseley Hornet Special and a 1934 Riley TT Sprite.
For those of you who fancy something modern don't despair as there is a 2003 Honda Civic TypeR, 2004 Porsche 911 GT3 and a 2009 Renault Clio Sport Trophy. There is a wide mix so there should be easily something for everyone, there are even some motorcycles if you prefer your speed on two wheels.
Speaking of two wheels, bike display team 'Savage Skills' will be showing what they can do as they jump and balance on various obstacles. I watched one of the shows and I have to say, it was very impressive viewing. If that is a bit too intense for you though you can go to the live stage where girl group 'Elle and the Pocket Bells' will be seeing classics hits and also some modern tunes but with a vintage twist.
It's a good day out no matter who you are and there is more than enough to do there, although I was pretty much glued to the track all day! It really is a good chance to see some classic cars being driven in anger around a short but sweet track. I took ALOT of pictures of the day so trying to shortlist some for this article was no mean feat but I hope you enjoy them.
The event will also run tomorrow and kicks off from 9am and will finish around 5-5:30pm. Tickets are £15 for and adult, £6 for a child and £35 for a family ticket (2 adults, 2 children) but you can save yourself a bit of money if you buy them in advance on their website.
