Over 6,500 people applied for the new Ford GT but as there only 500 on offer plenty of customers will be left empty handed.
But thanks to Le Mans Coupes LTD you can still get your hands on a Ford GT. Admittedly it won't be the latest model, but it will be quite a bit cheaper. It's priced at £102,500 as opposed to the £300,000 needed for the latest model.
The car is actually a replica of the original GT40 but it does share 70% of it's components with the original and is handbuilt with care. The Superformance GT40 evocations come complete with P/2000 Series chassis numbers and is produced by Hi-Tech Automotive in South Africa.
Customers can either choose to have the car in MkI or Mk II form, in either left or right-hand drive. There will also be a choice of engines, a 5.6 litre unit which produces 430bhp and the 7.0 litre unite which produces 560bhp. Depending which engine you choose the GT40 evocation will get to 60mph in 3.7 seconds and will get to a top speed just over 200mph. Customers also have choice of either a central or sill-mounted gearchange and ZF RBT or Quaife transaxle.
Commenting on the car Le Mans Coupes’ Managing Director, Nigel Hulme said: “Interest in the GT40 has grown steadily since the model’s 50th anniversary celebration of two years ago, and has inevitably been further heightened by the launch of the new GT and Ford’s exciting decision to give it its Le Mans debut exactly 50 years after first beating Ferrari there.”
