Swedish carmaker Volvo have enlisted the services of well-known footballer Zlatan Ibrahimovic kick off the European launch campaign for the new V90 estate. The advert can now be seen online and will soon hit our TV screens.
The advert focuses on the rise of the former PSG striker, from his humble beginnings in Malmo to starring on the international football stage. Zlatan is a long-standing driver and fan of Volvo so it seemed sensible that the brand would turn to him to help promote the V90.
Speaking about the campaign Zlatan commented: "I've seen the new cars, I've driven and tested them, and I think they're fantastic. Just like me, Volvo have gone their own way and dared to think differently.
"The campaign is a celebration of the independent mind, of the power that lies in the ability to think differently. There are many similarities between Zlatan's and Volvo's journeys. We haven't got to where we are now by doing the same as everyone else," said Anders Gustafsson, Senior Vice President, Europe, Middle East and Africa at Volvo Car Group.
As well as drafting in some footballing talent the advert will feature a musical score from world-renowned composer Hanz Zimmer who has worked on films such as The Dark Knight, The Lion King and Interstellar. Speaking on the project Zimmer said: "I've always been a fan of Swedish icons such as Abba and Zlatan, so doing this project with Volvo Cars and Zlatan made me experience the best of Sweden. Working together has been truly rewarding."
Volvo say the new V90 takes a clear step forward in terms of aesthetics, material and finish, whilst living up to the ultimate practical nature of an estate car. It will come with a high level of equipment including the second generation Pilot Assist which provides a semi-autonomous driving experience.
