Met Police Allegedly Speed In Confiscated Lambo

A £200,000 Lamborghini Huracan was allegedly taken for a joyride after it had been taken by mistake on the grounds of having no valid insurance. The Italian speedster belonged to City Supercars, a hire car company based in London and had a delivery driver at the wheel on their way to Bradford.

The car was pulled over near Heathrow airport late Wednesday night by the Met Police and the onboard tracker shows that it was driven twice the speed limit after the police had seized it. The tracker reported that the Huracan hit speeds of 47mph, 53mph and 63mph, all in a 30mph speed limit zone. It looks like someone has a lot of explaining to do then...

Erwyn Mackee, 32, the owner of City Supercars said he had spoken to the officers who pulled the car over and was able to provide them with proof of insurance. Despite this the officers insisted on taking the exotic car as they claimed Mr Mackee could have photoshopped the documents sent over.

Mr Mackee also happens to be a lawyer but even that wasn't enough to save the car from being taken by the long arm of the law. He commented: "I told him I'm a lawyer and that you have to have overwhelming evidence that there is no insurance and I've sent you proof'. But he didn't believe I was a lawyer, he said I should keep my cool and started threatening the driver with arrest.

"Then five more police cars turned up. They must have not had much to do last night and just wanted to look at the car."It doesn't really make sense, he just wanted to have a bit of drive," he added.

Mr Mackee sent a tweet to the Met Police which read "Your officers unlawfully impounded our Lamborghini tonight & went for joy ride at over double speed limit" but he received no response. He says he will now make a formal complaint to Independent Police Complaints Commission.

The Met Police said they are investigating the incident.
