Results Are In From World's First Mini Census

The results are in from the world's first Mini census which was carried ahead of Mini World Live which will be held at Rockingham Speedway on the 10th of July.
Organisers of the event were keen to find out information such as the gender of the car, the average age of drivers and where they lived. One of the other aims of the census was to find out what were the most popular name for iconic car.
The event may be taking place in the UK but the census has reached out to all parts of the globe including the USA, Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka. The results show that the majority of Minis are male (51%) and are most likely to be called 'Marvin'. Female Minis made up 35% of people asked as 14% said there were car was neither male or female.
Other popular male names included Tommy - as in Tommy Cooper - and Jack, but there are quite a few now being named after the famous yellow creatures known as Minions. So expect to see a few call Dave, Stuart and Bob. The most popular female name was Minnie, with Mollie and Minnie making up the other two of three most popular names.
In terms of age, the youngest owner was a 17-year-old from Auckland, New Zealand called Luke and his Mini called Sheldon - named after Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory - all the way through to 80-year-old John from Bangor, North Wales with a Mini called Mavis, after is late wife.
Commenting on the survey, Mini World Live event manager, Katherine Chappell, said: “Mini owners have a real sense of community, and their cars are just as much a part of that community as they are. Minis, both old and new, are the most celebrated and characterful cars in the world, and with Mini World Live we want to celebrate that character.”
