McLaren have announced the new Carbon Series LT which has been produced by McLaren Special Operations but only 25 will be on offer - which have already been sold I'm afraid.
The car is based on the 675LT Spider which featured on the last episode of Top Gear and came after demands from customers who were captivated by the fully carbon fibre P1 on display at the Geneva Motor Show. It is only the third McLaren model to wear the LT (Longtail) badge after the F1 GTR LT and the 675LT Coupe.
Under the gloss carbon-fibre body there is a 3.8 litre twin-turbo V8 which it shares with the Coupe and produces a devilish 666bhp. 0-62mph is dealt with in just 2.9 seconds and the Carbon Series LT will continue on a top speed of 203mph. The car also comes with the Track Telemetry Pack which comes with three cameras fitted to the car which ought to come in handy in a track day - or when you're bragging at the pub.
Like the Coupe, this model focuses on providing lightweight, enhanced dynamics as well as increased power and track-focused dynamics. But unlike the Coupe, the Carbon Series LT has 40% additional carbon-fibre parts so the body cannot be retro-fitted to a 675LT. So if you have 675LT and fancy the looks to the Carbon Series LT you have no choice but to 'make-do'. I know it's a tough break.
The 25 examples will be produced in the autumn and will be delivered to their lucky owners by the end of the year.
