Yesterday details of the new Fiat 124 Spider were released and today sees the turn of the hotter Abarth 124 Spider.
The Abarth version sees more power and will be available soon, costing £29,565 which the brand say offers outstanding value for money. It looks to be an exciting car but I'm not sure about the price. For around the same price you can get an Audi TT Roadster or for a little bit more you could bag yourself a BMW Z4.
But let's forget the price for the time being shall, let's focus on the performance. The Abarth variant of the 124 is fitted with a 1.4 litre TJet engine which produces 170bhp. Mated to a six-speed manual the car will get to 62mph in 6.8 seconds and will climb to a top speed of 143mph. An automatic version is available too and is priced at £31,605.
It ought to make a nice noise as well as it makes use of a Record Monza exhaust which is said to give a unique growl. Each car is tested by an Abarth technician to make sure it's ready to be sold and each model comes with its own plaque to represent this. This helps to make the car even more exclusive.
Five colours will be available, special solid "Turini 1975 White” and "Costa Brava 1972 Red", metallic "Isola d'Elba 1974 Blue", "Portogallo 1974 Grey" and "San Marino 1972 Black". Personally I think it looks brilliant in the white, especially with the black bonnet and alloys. In regards to kit the Abarth comes with climate control, cruise control, 7" inch infotainment system which boasts a DAB radio and plenty of connectivity.
