You’ve probably heard me say it many times but I’m a big fan on the Jaguar E-Type, for me it’s one of the most elegant cars ever to grace the road. So I felt a great deal of sympathy after seeing news that a newly restored model had been crashed after years of work.
The red 1973 E-Type collided with a lamppost in Ely,Cambridgeshire last Monday and photos of the stricken car were spread on social media. The unnamed driver was not injured but the same cannot be said for the wounded roadster. It is thought that the damage will cost thousands and will mean the Jag enter the workshop once more.
PC Ali McKenzie was on the scene commented: "The car had recently been fully restored with a painstaking attention to detail, and had only been out on the road briefly before the accident happened.
"We've seen a lot of vehicles damaged on our roads recently, but I can honestly say that I haven't seen anything quite as nice as this one in a long time.
"It's a great shame. We are having to deal with very unpredictable conditions on the roads at the moment, please do take care."
The driver has not been named but whoever you are, my heart goes out to you. Try and be more careful next time though!
