Whether you like it or not, the new series of Top Gear is in full swing and this week brings the third episode of the new format. So what can we expect?
Prayers answered
So far the best thing to come out of the new series is actually the spin-off show Extra Gear which is fronted by Rory Reid and Chris Harris. The reason why it's better is quite simple really, they're not trying to be something they're not. Extra Gear feels more original and has been able to find its own identity far better than the show on which its based.
Well to quote the quote ex-hot James May "Good News!", both Rory Reid and Chris Harris will appear in the main show this week. Reid will be taking the wheel of the Ford Focus RS - as well as the Mecerdes AMG A45 and the Honda Civic Type R - and Harris will be taking the Ferrari F12tdf for a spin. Hopefully they can edge their way in the studio and buy some time on camera in the new show.
More awkward interviews
So far in the series all the interviews have been a bit awkward and the guests have been a bit mismatch. In episode one we had the unusual mix of Gordon Ramsay and Jesse Eisenberg and last week we had Damian Lewis joined by Sharleen Spiteri and Seasick Steve. This week is no different as the guests will be boxer Anthony Joshua and comedian Kevin Hart.
I honestly don't know why they insist on grouping together guests that have little in common and have probably never crossed paths. Are they trying to provide a meet and greet for celebrities? Who knows, on the plus side I must say I like the new rallycross course as it offers a new dynamic to the segment which is just as well really.
Evans and LeBlanc get taken for a spin
Sabine Schmitz will be taking the new Audi R8 V10 around Laguna Seca circuit and making Chris Evans sick in the process. That should ought to keep him quiet for a few moments... Meanwhile, LeBlanc will be taken on a London sightseeing tour with a difference in a modified Ford Mustang called 'Hoonicorn'. Behind the wheel will be professional racing driver and hoonigan Ken Block. This film caused a big stir after the pair drifted around the Cenotaph as part of the film, this part will not hit our screens though.
