The Renault Clio has been with us for 25 years and we are currently with the fourth-generation model. The styling has come a very long way in that time and I think it’s safe to say the current model is one of the most stylish hatchbacks money can buy. The French brand have unveiled a new, updated Clio which may look identical to the outgoing model but look a bit deeper and you will notice some changes.
Evolution not revolution
In my opinion the Clio is one of the best looking hatchbacks in the market right now so it’s no surprise the styling has not been drastically changed. I must admit I can’t believe the outgoing model is four years old as it still looks as modern as the day it came out. Changes made on the new car include a redesigned Renault diamond as well as tweaks to the grille to give the car a fresh look. Helping to guide the new Clio are full-LED Pure Vision headlights which adds to the re-styling package.
Four new body colours will be on offer, Mars Red, Titanium Grey, Artic White and Iron Blue as well as a new selection of wheel and trim designs. There will be a more extensive personalisation option too so it should be easier than ever to make the new Clio your own. Interior quality has also been addressed with new trim, a BOSE sound system and an improved plastic finish.
New car, new choices
The new Clio comes with two new engines, the 1.5 litre dCi diesel and the 1.2 litre TCe petrol engine, both of which are fitted to a six-speed manual. This now means the Renault offers one of the most extensive powertrain options boasting a choice of eleven engine/transmission combinations.
Adding to the new engine choices are three multimedia systems for customers to choose from, plus front parking sensors and rear parking camera. However, If you’d rather not do any of the parking you can opt for handsfree parking which comes as standard on the higher spec models.
Full specification and pricing will come later in the year and the car itself will land in the UK in October.
