The eagerly awaited MG GS – the brand’s first SUV – has been officially launched and with it come more details of the vehicle itself.
An SUV that won’t break the bank
SUVs are immensely popular at the moment and pretty much every manufacturer is now able to offer you what they believe is the best SUV, even Maserati have got in on the act. So it’s fair to say the GS will need something to help it stand in a market that has quickly grown and it’s the price to attract buyers. The base model GS Explore is priced at £14,995, for this you will receive cruise control, automatic headlamps and air conditioning.
The next model up is the Excite which boasts DAB radio, Bluetooth and rear parking sensors, priced at £17,595 and the Exclusive finishes the range starting at 19,495. For this price you’ll receive electronically adjustable sports seats trimmed in leather, an iGO navigation system on top of the features included in the other models. A six-speed manual gearbox powers this model or you can pay £20,995 for a seven-speed DCT gearbox – the first of its kind for the brand.
What is it capable of?
The new GS more torque than its two-wheel drive competitors, offering 250Nm and a 0-60mph time of 9.6 seconds. The 164bhp engine produces 139g/km of CO2 when fitted with the manual and 141g/km when using the DCT. The GS is able to tow a total mass of 1750kg which makes it suitable for large caravans.
When will it be available?
The new GS will be available very soon, this Thursday in fact and for more information visit www.mg.co.uk/gs.
