Jeep will be adding to its Cherokee range with the new ‘Overland’ which made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year.
What does it come with?
The Overland starts at £38,745 and comes as standard with an Alpine Premium sound system, Uconnect radio with 8.4” touchscreen, Bluetooth and GPS navigation. Buyers will have a choice of either Morocco Black or Pearl Nappa leather seats, both of which are at no extra cost and a choice of four paint finishes, Deep Cherry Red, Bright White, Brilliant Black and Billet Silver.
Sticking with the outside the Overland features a polished bright front grille, new body-coloured door cladding, front and rear bumpers and wheel arches, new 18” polished bright aluminium wheels, standard HID bi-xenon headlamps and an Overland badge on the tailgate. Powering the new car is a 2.2 litre MultiJet turbo diesel engine which is linked to a nine-speed automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive.
0-62mph is delivered in a respectable 8.5 seconds and the top speed is 127mph. Emissions measure in at 149g/km and the claimed fuel economy is 50.4mpg on a combined cycle.
What about rivals?
Well for this price range you have quite a wide choice of other off-roaders and it's fair to say the Overland will have its work cut out. It will go up against such as the Audi Q5, Land Rover Discovery Sport and the BMW X3, cars which are not short on quality. They're also looking better as well in my opinion but you know what they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
