Life is a funny ol' thing isn't it? Last week's Top Gear was easily the best in the current series for me yet it drew in 2.37million viewers, the lowest since 2003 - yikes! It appears a lot of damage has been done by the first two episodes but last week was a glimpse of what the show is able to offer. However, I do think last week was was about as good as it will get but that's my own rather pessimistic view, but what's in store this week?
This looks familiar...
This Chris Evans, Matt LeBlanc and Sabine Schmitz will be racing against a train... hang on where have I seen that before? Oh it was Top Gear. This race will have a difference however as the hosts must pick up a Michelin Starred chef on the way who must make a meal on the way to final destination of Venice. The hosts will be completing this journey in second-hand luxury cars but judging by the advert LeBlanc will be on a motorbike which should make the meal preparation erm.. intersesting.
The Vulcan has landed
Chris Harris is back from his solid performance last week to drive the 800bhp Aston Martin Vulcan around Abu Dhabi Yas Marina circuit. It's a tough job but someone has to do it I suppose. His Extra Gear co-host Rory Reid will also be featuring on the show once more but once again he seems to have drawn the short straw, not that the Focus RS was really a short straw.
Reid will be driving around New York in the Tesla Model X, an electric SUV which can get to 0-62 in an electrifying - sorry couldn't help it - 3.2 seconds. Don't worry Rory, I'm sure you'll be able to get your hands on a supercar soon...here's hoping.
That feature
It's no secret that I do not really like the Star in a Rallycross Car section but I need to inform you about it whether I like it or not. This week brings another mismatch in the form of Professor Brian Cox and survival expert Bear Grylls. Can either of them take Anthony Joshua off the top of the leaderboard? Tune in tomorrow night to find out.
A little trailer for tomorrow's episode can be found here.
