Skoda has revealed it will be adding a new trim to the modestly-named Superb which is available from July with prices starting at £26,490. It's called Sportline and as you can imagine, it will offer a sportier edge to the Superb model. It will boast plenty of kit and comes with plenty of engine/transmissions choices and will be offered in both hatchback and estate guises.
Subtle, Sport Styling
The Sporline adds a sporty edge but it doesn't shout about it and although it has sharp, cutting lines it's rather subtle. The 19" alloy wheels do rather stand out though when combined with the Moon White metallic paint finish. If the white is a bit plain however, you can take advantage of the exclusive 'Dragon Green' metallic finish. If that doesn't take you fancy either you can choose from five other colours - Quartz Grey metallic, Business Grey metallic, Brilliant Silver metallic, Black Magic pearl effect and Corrida Red. The obligatory sport body kit is in place, as is the rear spoiler although that's only available on the hatchback.
Superb equipment level
The Sportline comes with a good level of equipment such as Bi-xenon headlights, Columbus navigation and Wi-fi, rear parking sensors, dual-zone climate control, keyless entry and cruise control. To help give the Sportline live up to its name it features sumptuous Alcantara-lined sport seats, a lowered 15mm ride height, three-spoke sport multifunction steering wheel and an electric differential to give more grip when cornering. A Drive Mode Select allows drivers to choose what kind of drive they would like and comes with comfort, normal and driving modes.
Helping to compete the interior specification include LED ambient lighting, carbon dashboard trim, aluminium pedals and black headlining. It may be sporty but it will still offer a high amount of practicality thanks to large load areas - 625 litres in the hatchback and 660 litres for the estate.
There is a broad choice of engine and transmissions options, plus four-wheel drive can be specified as well but you will need to cough up at least £33,295 and has to be mated to the six-speed DSG automatic. The base engine is the 1.4 litre TSI petrol which offers 148bhp but if that is not enough for you there is a 2.0 litre TSI petrol which boasts 276bhp. A 2.0 litre TDI diesel is also available and comes in two power outputs - 148bhp and 187bhp. A manual gearbox is offered but features on the less powerful engines.
